Rhymes of Pleasure (RoP) is a poetic account that connects articulation, movement and sexuality, placing them in non-normative relationships. Shifting between using rhymes as soundscape, as material, as riddle and as dialogue it creates situations for the body to expand its modes of coexisting. RoP proposes choreographies in which our own rhymes, moves and beats transit in collaboration, creating a unique mix between a poetry slam, a lust jukebox and a performance concert. RoP examines different ways of reading, creating and performing poetry that suggests choreography as means to transforming the body’s politics.
A post-conceptual journey with new poetic-dance proposals.
“The sexual revolutions are not over, there is still room for utopias, the dream of a queer world that rethinks and embraces new ways of dealing with one’s own body and its surroundings.” (Anna Ångström, Svd newspaper, for Rhymes of Pleasure)

Nefeli Oikonomou (GR/SE)
Dancer/ performer choreographer from Greece, based in Sweden. After studying Dance (MoC) and Design (UoA), she has completed her Master of Choreography at DOCH and the interdisciplinary course Organizing Discourse at Konstfack University. She curated Pracrising Transitions Festival in Wip Konsthall in Årstaberg and Rhymes mini-festival in Weld, which invited many artists with performances, open discussions, exhibitions, screenings and workshops. In recent years, she has devoted herself in producing a variety of stage works, which strive to activate new performative proposals. Lately, she is a partner in the duets ‘D ANCER’ and ‘POLY’ by Sebastian Lingserius, that premiered in MDT and presented her own work ‘The Art of Laboring’ and ’Rhymes of Pleasure’ that premiered at Weld. From small to social movements, mechanisms of crisis, twisted bodily effects and poetic meetings, she engages in performing practices to intensify the body as a place for constant transformation and renegotiation, which can facilitate philosophical speculations across a broad spectrum.
