The use of a certain space for culture as one sublimated term involves consideration of ideas and possible scenarios for physical and program editing, as well as possible uses for the wider community. The cinema hall in the Railway building, besides other possibilities, can also function as a space for community ()tenants of the Railway building ), but also as a space for creating cultural and artistic content developed in cooperation with local artists and organizations active in the filed of culture and art.
ARTS SYMOSIUM IN SKOPJE
On June 5-6 the U.S. Embassy in cooperation with Министерство за култура, LOKOMOTIVA-Centre for New Initiatives in Arts and Culture and Македонска Филхармонија will host more than 70 arts managers of government cultural institutions and representatives from Macedonia’s major private and non-profit cultural institutions. The goal of the symposium is to advance and support the management, and governance of cultural institutions, discuss arts business strategy and strategic planning, and more.

This event gather four performing arts curators Lydia Bell, Anastasia Proshutinskaya, Marijana Cvetkovic and Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski that will work on the development of the common future platform for curating, while also encountering local authors, organizations, students and other individuals through informal and formal meetings, presentations and lectures.
On 4th of June 2018, there will be a public event in which they will present their work, and art scenes in New York, Moscow and Belgrade, and on 7th June they will be holding a workshop as the part of the educational platform Arts/Politics/Institution/Body – Open Scene.

The Publication “Modeling Public Space(s) in Culture” is a continuation to the Conference Modelling Public Space(s) in Culture organised in Skopje, Kino Kultura in October 2017. The Conference aimed to offer diverse thematic overview on “public space” as a physical location creating social ties and “public sphere” as the collection of attributes contributing to the formation of public discourse. At the conference, public spaces were reviewed and discussed through two different aspects: 1/Revisionism and production of the history of culture and institution and 2/Reflection on the need for new models of public spaces in culture.

“Lokomotiva – Center for new initiatives in the arts and culture” -Skopje has the honor to organize the program “European Diploma in Project Management in Culture 2018/2019”, which will be held in the period from May 11 to May 20 in Ohrid, Struga and Skopje.
The European Diploma Program aims to foster cultural diversity and inter-regional trade. By enhancing the skills of cultural managers in the field of cultural management, the program seeks to develop the facilities and tools needed for cultural cooperation in Europe, thus raising Europe’s culture to a higher level.

The event will gather several authors of texts in the publication: Pascal Gielen (Brussels – Belgium), Goran Janev, Ivana Vaseva, Ivana Dragsikj, Yane Chalovaki (Skopje – Macedonia).
The presentation and open discussion will be moderated by Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski and Violeta Kachakova (editors and authors of text in the publication), representatives of Lokomotiva – Skopje (publisher of the publication)
