DOCH OPEN LECTURES BILJANA TANUROVSKA KJULAVKOVSKI

Welcome to DOCH Open Lectures series of spring 2019! Meet cultural worker and curator in performing arts, PhD from the Faculty of Drama Arts in Belgrade Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski.

We want to work here! Curatorial strategies – from speculation to intervention

The lecture will give a perspective from socio- politically and economically unstable context in which contemporary art is marginalized, moreover, where dance and performance are dissolving in the cultural policy outlooks. It will give an overview of how deviated mutual influences of politics, policy and arts are determining institutional and non-institutional art paradigm. In such context, we have produced diverse actions of taking back control of production of spatial and temporal working conditions as a curatorial strategy. Such strategy involves advocacy, activist actions, creation of new models of institutions and public spaces where art can be produced, presented, disseminated, perceived and valorized. Topics included are: self-organization; working conditions of freelance artists and cultural workers; new models of institutions for performing arts; rhizomatic governance; co-curating; curatorial and policies.
