Physical manifestation II: Desiring body

Snježana Premuš with her collaborators Dragana Alfirević, Tina Valentan and Boštjan Perovšek, opens up in this project methodical  somatic principles, that establish the conditions in which the dancer’s body can provide mechanism for observation of  visible and also on the first glance imperceptible processes in the body.
With this knowledge, one can experience and understand what is going on in the body: where one is going, and what anatomical segments are mobilized in the movement. From here the author is interested in how and when physical – perception images are translated, modulated into poetic – stage images.
The presentation was playing with this fine line between when the movement is observed as a process and when it transcend into performance.
We were exploring principles which bring forward notion of center-perifery. First through the body and than in the space (spatial, cultural, political).
Some of the tools which we developed in 10days residence, were organised as a score for public.
The important part of the score played sound installation which included special “directed speakers”, which function as “laser” – sound can be isolated in a small space. So you do not hear it, unless you come there. The installation and score helped the audience to shift their perception and open a personal entrance into the movement material (manifestations), which followed as a dialogue between the dancers after.
At the end there was a fruitful discussion, which was recorded as a documentation material. Since 2012 we are archiving documenting the project on different levels – the idea is to make a documentary and a book.
The residency was excellent opportunity to have an intensive focus and enough time to work on certain aspect of the project. We have managed to establish basic principles (and basic installation structure) and tools which will lead us further in the development of the project for the next two years.

The showcase presentation took place on Sunday, at 14h on the 12th November 2017, in Trafó Studio.
