ПЕРФОРМАНС ПЛАТФОРМА/ NOMAD DANCE SESSIONS 

Kако дел од соработката со МОТ оваа година, Локомотива организира и програма Перформанс Платформа/Nomad Dance Sessions, составена од резиденција и дискусија: Институција која недостасува. Партнери на оваа соработка се Фестивалот за феминистичка култура и акција ПРВО ПА ЖЕНСКО и МОТ фестивалот, а програмата е и дел од мрежата Life Long Burning. 

Јете Бухзеншуц, драматургиња од Берлин, писателка и културна работничка во полето на танц и перформанс, и Маве Џонсон, квир-феминист уметник, драматург, и истражувач на уметничките пракси на движење, ќе присуствуваат на МОТ како гости на кратката резиденција во рамки на програмата. За време на својот престој, тие ќе ја следат програмата на Локомотива на МОТ, како и други претстави, ќе имаат интервјуа со луѓе од сцената, ќе присуствуваат на дискусијата Дијалог кој недостасува/ Институција која недостасува, а потоа ќе напишат текст, рефлексија за современата изведувачка сцена.

Институција која недостасува е продолжение на серијата (ко-кураторски) разговори Дијалог кој недостасува кои Локомотива и Прво па Женско ги започнаа минатата година со цел да се креира простор во јавноста каде ќе можеме заедно да рефлектираме за делата, практиките, потребите, процесите, условите и политиките во полето на современите изведувачки уметности. Сметаме дека на тој начин ќе придонесеме кон ослободување од доминантниот впечаток во локалната професионална заедница и кај пошироката публика, дека творечките процеси во полето на современите изведувачки уметности, како и самите дела се херметични поради тоа што отстапуваат од традиционалните линеарни постапки во креирањето.

Годинава на МОТ продолжуваме да ги водиме овие дискусии со цел да откриваме и создаваме повеќегласие за современата изведувачка уметност или современите перформативни практики и заедно да гледаме, да исчитуваме и да промислуваме за нив.

Бидејќи процесите во современите изведувачки практики, како и начини на творење условуваат и поинакви потреби за развој, креирање, изучување и претставување во полето на современиот перформанс.

Со оваа дискусија сакаме тоа повеќегласие да го создаваме заедно со соработниците од сцената на тема: Институција која недостасува, со кои ја делиме фрустрацијата од непостоење на означен простор каде ќе соработуваме, ќе ги развиваме своите дела, ќе ги прикажуваме на публиката, ќе рефлектираме за нив и ќе ги институираме. Односно, чувството на немање дом каде – во соодветни услови можеме да ги развиваме нашите практики и да ги споделуваме со публиката.

Прашањата што ќе ги поставиме се однесуваат на минатото и мапирање на просторите, идеите и иницијативите кои доведоа до оваа идеја, ќе зборуваме за она што сме имале, а и сме изгубиле и како тоа влијаело или влијае на сцената, и на крај ќе зборуваме за она – каква институција за современи перформативни уметнички практики ни треба? Дали треба да се разгрануваме по дисциплини и форми, или да се спојуваме и градиме заеднички простори?

Ние сметаме дека заеднички простор кој би ги споил современите перформативни практики кои делуваат во земјава е она на кое треба да се насочиме и да дадеме можност за континуиран програмски, а не само проектен развој на авторски уметнички практики, да дадеме можност за развој на прогресивни пристапи, методи на творење и соработка кои додатно ќе го збогатат просторот со една нова современа, светски препознаена и релевантна развојна сцена.

Дискусијата се организира во соработка помеѓу Локомотива и изведувачката програма на фестивалот за феминистичка култура и акција ПРВО ПА ЖЕНСКО, a партнери се фестивалот МОТ и Диверт, Загреб.

Performance Platform/ NOMAD DANCE SESSIONS 

As part of the cooperation with the MOT International Theatre Festival 2023, Lokomotiva is organizing the Performance Platform/Nomad Dance Sessions programme, including a residency and a discussion: A Missing Institution. Partners in the cooperation are the Festival of Feminist Culture and Action FIRSTBORN GIRL and the MOT Theatre Festival, while the programme is also part of the Life Long Burning network.

Jette Büchsenschütz, a Berlin-based dramaturg, writer and cultural worker in the field of dance and performance, and Maeve Johnson, a queerfeminist artist, movement practitioner and dramaturg, will be the guests at the Performance Platform/Nomad Dance Sessions short residency within the MOT Theatre Festival. During their stay, they will get into Lokomotiva’s programme within the MOT Theatre Festival, as well as other plays, conduct interviews with people from the scene, participate in the discussion A Missing Dialogue/A Missing Institution, and then follow up with an article, a reflection on the contemporary performance scene. 

A Missing Institution is a continuation of the series of (co-curated) conversations A Missing Dialogue launched last year by Lokomotiva and Firstborn Girl in order to create a space in the public where we can reflect together on works, practices, needs, processes, conditions and policies in the field of contemporary performing arts. We believe that in this way we will contribute to liberation from the dominant impression in the local professional community and among the wider audience, that the creative processes in the field of contemporary performing arts, as well as the works themselves, are hermetic due to the fact that they deviate from the traditional linear procedures in creation.

We continue the discussions at this year’s MOT Theatre Festival in order to discover and create a plurality of voices about contemporary performance art or contemporary performative practices and to look at, read up and reflect on them together, because the processes in the contemporary performance practices, as well as the ways of creation, also condition other needs for developing, creating, studying and representing in the field of contemporary performance. 

With this discussion, we want to create such plurality of voices together with collaborators from the scene, on the topic A Missing Institution, with whom we share the frustration of not having a designated space where we will collaborate, develop our works, present them to the public, reflect on them and institute them. That is, the feeling of not having a home where – in appropriate conditions we can develop our practices and share them with the public. 

The questions we will raise are about the past, and mapping the spaces, ideas and initiatives that have led to this idea, we will talk about what we had, and what we lost, and how it affected or affects the scene, and finally we will talk about – what kind of an institution for contemporary performance art practices do we need? Should we branch out across disciplines and forms, or join together and build common spaces?

We believe that a common space that would bring together the contemporary performative practices operating in the country is what we should focus on and allow the possibility for continuous programme development, rather than just project development of author’s artistic practices, allow the possibility for the development of progressive approaches, methods of creation and collaboration that will further enrich the space with a new contemporary world-recognized and relevant development scene.

The discussion is organized as cooperation between Lokomotiva and the performance programme of the Festival of Feminist Culture and Action FIRSTBORN GIRL, and partners include the MOT Theatre Festival and Divert, Zagreb. 

The Performance Platform/Nomad Dance Sessions programme is part of Lokomotiva’s interdisciplinary programme and the PERFORMANCE SITUATION ROOM / LLB 3 project, supported by Creative Europe – the European Commission’s flagship programme to support culture, as well as the Ministry of Culture of North Macedonia.  

Short bios of the guests at the Performance Platform/Nomad Dance Sessions residency: 

Jette Büchsenschütz is a Berlin-based dramaturg, writer and cultural worker in the field of dance and performance. With a background in Chinese language as well as dance studies, her
work is situated at the intersection of artistic practice and theoretical reflection. As a dramaturg, she has worked for Tanztage Festival Berlin and collaborated with Peter Pleyer and Cranky Bodies a/company, Anna Nowicka, Deva Schubert, Aliénor Dauchez and La Cage, among others. In addition to her dramaturgical and writing practice she works for the German Dance Association (Dachverband Tanz Deutschland). In 2022/23 she was a fellow of the Critical Practice (Made in YU) programme. Since then she is part of the transnational collective systering, a group of artists, writers, dramaturges and cultural workers dedicated to practices of comradeship, sistering and critical collaboration.

Maeve Johnson is a queerfeminist artist, movement practitioner and dramaturg based in Berlin. Their primary interest lies in creating works that dream the body as an intersection of
intimacies, sensations and imaginations to engage with the erotic; more generally they are interested in relational subjectivities as places of collective resistance. Their work consists of
groovy dance moves, wet tongues and queer fantasies woven together into a something like a cosmos. Think about Ursula K. Le Guin and her bag of stars or the smell of your lover’s
kitchen. Recently they have been working with Björnsonova, NÏM Company and Systering as well as Zuzana Žabková, Eva Priečková, Elisa Purfürst and Azzie McCutcheon. They are
feeling inspired by artists such as, noname, Ezra Furman, Frost Children and recently they read The Gilda Stories by Jewel Gomez which they liked a lot.
