Lokomotiva- Center for New Initiatives in arts and culture, Skopje is organizing the first meeting of the European cooperation project named ACT: Art, Climate, Transition (ACT)

On 4th and 5th November, Lokomotiva- Center for New Initiatives in arts and culture, Skopje is organizing the first meeting of the European cooperation project named ACT: Art, Climate, Transition (ACT).

The main goal of this project is age of climate breakdown, mass extinction and unprecedented loss of biodiversity.

ACT is a European cooperation project aiming in bringing together arts, ecology and climate change, but also focus which must find a connection to the interlinked issues of inequality, climate justice and urban ecologies

The central point of the project is Europe of increasing populist and nationalist tendencies, wearing out the resilience of civil systems and political reasoning. In only a few years since the Paris COP21-agreements the awareness and urgency of the climate issues is perceived broadly- but acted upon too little, too late. These realities are not separated from each other, but closely interconnected.

As a cooperation project of ten European cultural organisations, ACT step into this field and connect the arts to what we see as the most urgent agenda today: act, towards a just transition.

In the period September 2019- August 2023, meetings will be organized among this cooperation project including ten artistic organisations: ArtsAdmin, London – UK, Bunker,  Ljubljana – Slovenia, Culturgest, Lisbon – Portugal, COAL, Paris – France, Domino,  Zagreb – Croatia, Kaai Theater, Brussels – Belgium, Kampnagel, Hamburg – Germany, NTIL, Riga – Latvia, Theater Rotterdam, Rotterdam – the Netherlands and Lokomotiva- Skopje.

During the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to encounter Macedonian artists collaborating with Lokomotiva and Kino Kultura. In frame of program Art:Politics:Institution:Body, two performances will be presented – on 4th of November at 19:00, “MOONLIGHT” by Aleksandar Georgiev and Dario Barreto Damas and on 5th of November at 19:00, performance “This building talks truly ”, by Filip Jovanovski.
