FELDENKRAIS METHOD OF WARNESS THORUGH MOVEMENT
HOW TO DO LESS, WITH MORE ATTENTION, LIGHTNES AND CURIOSITY

The Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. Moshe Feldenkrais said, “We move according to our perceived self-image.” By expanding your perception and increasing awareness, you become more aware of your habits and tensions and develop new ways of moving.
The Feldenkrais Method of somatic education uses gentle movement and directed attention helps increase the ease and range of motion, improve flexibility and coordination, and rediscover the innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement. It’s for anyone seeking more comfortable, efficient, sustainable movement and greater self-awareness for purposes of pain reduction, performance enhancement (artistic /day-to-day/athletic/), self-discovery, playfulness and quality of life improvement.

Teaching actors is very dear to me, not just because the relation between body, mind and emotions are at the core of actors job, but also I can easily apply concrete feldenkrais awarenss of movement lessons in acting situation.

My first encounter with the method was indirectly in Ecole Jacques Lecooq (81-83), since Monica Pagnuex, one of the closest collaborators of Lecoq, and one of acclaimed teachers for actors, left quite a nice legacy of lessons inspired from the Feldenkrais method in the analyse of movement classes, that she developed for and with Jacques. They all include a process of raising awareness through movement, by differentiating, finding variations, approximations, by observing, sensing, localizing, paying attention to yourself, the orientation in space, the rhythms, finding the “neutral” in a very large sense and then transposing movements on the stage in more theatrical form.
